Knit 1st row
2nd row slip one, knit one, tuck stich for one, knit one…repeating the what?? and knit one. Am I supposed to be repeating the tuck stitch and then knit one or…? It’s from Phildar catalogue 422.
I’m a returning knitter after a long time away and I think I’ve bitten off more than I can chew here  But it’s a really nice pattern!
It’s early in the morning and I haven’t finished my first cup of coffee yet nor read through your pattern but here is a site I used after getting some French knitting patterns:
You’ll have to try this out because I’m concentrating on the translation rather than the pattern itself…
1st row: Knit
2nd row: Slip a stitch backward (I think they mean in a purl fashion rather than knit fashion), yarn to front; (“a l’envers” really means backward or wrong side); knit one; the next stitch is knit below the stitch on the left needle, then it says to let the stitch you didn’t knit fall off the needle (says it will straighten itself out in the next row); knit one. The next part is confusing…it says to repeat from “a”, which would have you bring your yarn forward, knit one, and back to knitting the stitch below, etc., but the * is actually placed before the stitch knit below the stitch on the needle. I’d go with yarn forward, knit one, etc. first.
3rd row: Slip a stitch backward (purl fashion), yarn to front; knit stitch below, knit one; continue with knit stitch below and knit one for rest of row.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
Gauge is important.
Cast on 21 stitches on #5 needles and knit for 190 cm before casting off.
Hopefully one of the ladies from Canada will help out …
I believe it’s slip st with yarn forward for the simple reason that this part is in parentheses,as in a reminder, and not part of the ongoing instructions. If it were a yarn over it would be part of the instructions per se.
