Free Patons Classic Pleated Tea Cozy Pattern | Yarnspirations

Hi
I am a beginner and I am attempting this pattern. It uses two different colours of wool. In the pattern it asks to pass A over B and I am unsure how to do this? Is this just an instruction to change colour from A to B or is this the same as psso?

I am very new to knitting, especially patterns!

Thank you
Carol

Welcome to KH!
Very clever pattern. You’re going to be changing colors and twisting the yarn colors to join them. This isn’t a psso decrease. It’s simply a way to join the two yarns.

This video shows the twist of the two yarns. Unlike the video, you won’t have the two colors on bobbins. Instead you’ll drag the new color along the back, past the old color, leaving about an inch of yarn behind. This yarn will tighten the old color to give the pleated effect.
Usually you want to avoid this pleated or puckered effect but this pattern makes it a design feature.

Thank you
This is so helpful. That makes sense now! I will gove it try. Thank you so much.
