I was looking for a cute doggy sweater to make for my chihuahua, and absolutely fell in 
with this one:
Now, my question is, would this be a good project for a beginner like me?
There’s a lot of increasing and decreasing for the ruffles and the shaping but the pattern doesn’t sound difficult. As the designer mentions, the leg holes are sometimes a problem to envision but basically, you’re casting off some sts on one row and then casting those sts back on at a later row. Give it a try and if you need help, you know where you can always come with questions!
Alright then, I’ll give it a try. Just need to get the right needles. I have been thinking long and hard about getting the Dreamz deluxe set, and I think I am going to take the plunge and get it. I’ll also get a 16" cord, as the pattern says I’ll need. Oh, and some white yarn (I already have lilac colored yarn) and I think I can scrounge up some ribbon somewhere.

Thanks for the link. I’m thinking my GS’s 'hua needs one but I’m thinking hot pink and chartreuse for her. Yeah, really. LOL I don’t see where the 16" circ comes in. I’d just start on the circ I intended to finish on most likely, my fave length is 47", plenty for magic looping. I agree with salmonmac that you should go for it. If you run into too much that’s confusing you can always set it aside (you can remove the needle tips from the cable and put the buttons on it) and come back later. Everyone needs at least one UFO.

I saw the 16" circ listed but didn’t see where you’re to switch to using it. I guess when the number of stitches makes it hard to use the dpn. Like I said above, I’d just start and finish on the same circ. To each their own, I have np with someone else doing it differently. It does look like a fun knit, I really think I must do one.
