I’ve been really lazy about sharing pics of FO’s so here are just a couple.
The socks are what I consider my first “real” socks (my first attempt at a sock was just to learn the process and I really didn’t expect it to fit anyway). I started with the Simple Sock pattern from Cat Bordhi’s book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles. The instructions for picking up stitches for the gusset didn’t make sense to me, nor apparently to the ladies at the LYS as they suggested the instructions from another book, Knitting Circles Around Socks by Antje Gillingham. That made more sense so I ended up using a combination of the two patterns. I feel like I got incredibly lucky in being able to start the second sock in the right place in the yarn so they’re practically identical! I’m pleased with them and my daughter loves them so they went to her.
The other pic is a pair of fingerless mitts I made myself. My first real DPN project. I feel like they’re a bit big but I love them. They’re from a free pattern from Classic Elite Yarns, Twisted Stitch Mitts. Lots of fun to make! Oh almost forgot, I used Madelinetosh Tosh DK yarn.
Rats! My pics showed up in the preview of my post but not now??? Try again, and now I get an error message that I don’t have proper privileges to post pictures? I’ve posted pics before…it’s too early for frustration!
Your pictures may be too large either physically or in file size. Are you attaching them from your computer or using a site like Flickr? Either way check the link in my sig. It’s always nice to see pics in a post especially for people checking from a device other than a computer.
I did need to resize the pics. Both appeared to upload (from my computer) and both were there when I previewed my post. Sadly, this isnt the first time I’ve had problems uploading pics. I’ll try again in the morning.
And if it’s any consolation, I can’t upload photos straight from my 'puter to this forum either! Too much frustration!
I always whoosh them into my Flickr account first, then plop them into the forum here. Photobucket is nice, too, but I use Flickr exclusively now because Ravelry likes Flickr best. All my photos are in one location.
Thanks, everyone. I really am pleased with both the mitts and socks. The sock yarn was just plain fun! I used Indulgence Distrato sport weight yarn and it worked up nice and soft and cushy. I’m trying to decide on a pattern for socks for myself. My choice of sock yarns on hand are either Knit Picks Essentials or Patons Kroy Socks but neither seem nearly as soft. Anyway, thanks again!
