I was attempting to knit the following booties http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fortune-cookie-baby-shoes
I really hate seaming things up, and found an explanation to knit in one piece here http://www.ravelry.com/projects/YOK1/fortune-cookie-baby-shoes
But I am a little lost. I think once the strip is turned and the ends knitted together I should still have 10 stitches on my needle. But I am confused on the rest of the explanation.
Can anyone enlighten me? Thank you!
These are so adorable. You’re making the smallest size? Then yes, you have 10 sts on the needle after knitting the live sts and the cast on together.
Now you’re ready to knit the sole. turn so that the bottom of the bootie (or what will become the bottom or sole of the bootie) is facing you. Knit across the row until 3 or 4 stitches remain. Ssk two sts together, knit to the end of the row, pick up a stitch from the garter ridge of the body section of the bootee and turn to knit back.
When you get to 7 garter ridges left, you’re going to make the heel by turning the bootee inside out. and as you knit the last bind off row, pick up a stitch in each ridge and make it part of the bind off. You’ll be knitting 2 together as you bind off.
Thank you! I think they are pretty cute too! Again, I appreciate your help!
