I’ve been considering getting some, and I was wondering if they were as sharp and slick as the Options. So far I’ve only used bamboo needles because I’m worried that if I use metal ones, they will slide right out. Thoughts?
Are these the Options dpns? That’s the only kind I have. I don’t have a problem with my stitches slipping off because I’m a tight knitter. Only occasionally, when I’m starting off with an ssk, do they slip off, but that’s because I’m a klutz.
I really LOVE my Options DPNs.
I looooove my Options DPN’s. I do think they are best suited to knitters who are experienced in working on DPN’s, because they willslip out if you’re not careful. Other than that, I really can’t say enough good things about them.
I love the options DPN’s as well. They are so pointy that it makes it easy to cable without a needle, ssk, k2tog etc. Honestly, I haven’t lost any more stitches on these than the bamboo, but I am more cautious and I am sort of a tight knitter. with fingering weight and size 1’s I get 9 - 9.5 stitches an inch.
I like them a lot. I started out with bamboos first but now I feel really comfortable using them. I like them so much better than bamboos for the decreases because they are so much more pointy.
I love love love my options DPNs. They are pointy and slick (but I knit tight, so it’s not a bad thing) and I really like the way they feel in my hands. They’re not too heavy, but I don’t feel like I’m going to break them like I did with my bamboo ones the other day. I say go for it and get a set. They’re really inexpensive, so it wouldn’t be a huge investment if you end up not liking them.
and if you don’t you can send them my way… :teehee:
Thanks for all the tips. I’m a pretty tight knitter so they might work well for me. But buying them from KP would be a huge investment because every time I order from them I always talk myself into ordering at least enough to get the free shipping (it usually ends up being more than that though). :roflhard: Maybe I’ll see if anybody is willing to swap for them.
Oh! and another good thing about options; if you have a toddler or dog in the house, they can’t get broken or chewed to bits. I happen to have both a toddler and dog in the house so that’s a very strong selling point. :rofling:
LUV my KPs!! Im actually thinking of selling all of my Crystal Palace DPNs to make room for MORE Options… I LOVE the pointiness…
I love my Options set but the DPN’s are too slick for me. My stitches slide right out. It wasn’t as bad as I expected but they don’t work for me at the moment.
just got my first pr of options dp’s and I just love:heart:them.btw don’t worry about the shipping charges it comes to practically nothing. go to check out before you commit to buying and you will see s/h will probably only be a few dollars.
Love, love, love my options! Slick, pointy, and sturdy. I don’t generally have problems with my stitches sliding off and I’m not a tight knitter. Also, when using them, I don’t feel like they’re going to break or bend.
I didn’t know that DPNs could be different sizes than what was listed as size 1, 2, 3 etc. and learned the hard way. The Options were sized differently than the bamboos that I had started knitting with. Options’ size 2 is size 3MM which is a different size than the bamboo US 2 (sized 2.75) that I had started the project with. Maybe some of the more experienced knitters can explain better.
KP has just added size 2 (2.75 mm) to all its needle sets (size 1 in 2.25 also); so if you still need that size, it’s there now.
