Foll alt, again

I’ve seen a few questions about “foll alt” but none seem exactly like mine. Instructions for increasing on a raglan sleeve are:

inc 1 st at each end of the next 5th and every foll alt 6th row, then on every foll 8th row.

Is every following alt 6th row every 12th row?

Welcome to the forum!
You’re to increase on the next 5th, then 6th, then 5th, then 6th for however many times the pattern specifies or until you have some number of sts. Then increase every following 8th row.

Does the pattern specify how many times to alternate 5th and 6th rows before changing to every 8th?

Which pattern are you following? Can you give us a link or a pattern name?

The pattern is “billy” from Little Rowan Cherish. It’s my first UK pattern
so that may be some of the problem. For the size I’m knitting the
instructions are:
Cont in patt, shaping sides by inc 1 st at each of the next 5th and every
foll alt 6th to 64 sts, then on every floo 8th row until 74 sts.

I think I was putting a mental comma after “5th”. I don’t seen I’ve seen
ordinal numbers to refer to rows before, just “every 5 rows” etc.

Ok, how many sts do you have before the increases?

52 before increasing . I’m not so concerned about knowing when I’m finished
increasing, more concerned with knowing which rows to do the increases.
It’s a baby sweater so fit isn’t critical but I’d like to get it right.

Call the nextr row row 1. Inc on rows 5,11 16,22,27,33 and then rows 41,49,57,65,72.

Thank You!
