FO: Tree of Life Baby Afghan

I started it on my eldest son’s birthday on March 26th and finished it today… I slacked a whole lot. But I’m finally done. I’ll post a picture as soon as it’s out of the wash… making sure it’s soft and clean when the baby arrives this weekend… hopefully. My sister is ready to pop. The Tree of Life Baby Afghan is a free pattern at Lion Brand’s site, along with the full size adult afghan.

I honestly consider this to be the most difficult thing I have knit to date and the leaf border is perhaps the best example of recognizing your stitches and learning increases and decreases.

Congrats on a finished project! Are you going to share a picture?

Can’t wait to see a picture of it, I’m sure it’s beautiful!

I used Premier Yarn’s Serenity for the blanket. It’s the one that gets softer and softer. After I had washed, blocked (yes the border will slip over at first) and dried it, I wanted to roll all over it. I’m going to try to make the adult afghan… I love that yarn.

Also, I noted a few… problems with the tree pattern. I’m going to knit them in the 40 stitch pattern as written and make notes where the pattern breaks down (I noticed it at bottom and again at the top) and then there was a stitching problem on the leaf stem for the border. I’ll present that to Lion Brand for an erratta because I did have to sort of fly by the seat of my pants on the trees after the halfway point.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Congrats!! Beautiful job!

Hmmm…I made the adult version of the afghan, and I do not remember any errors.

There is a Ravelry group just for this pattern. It might help you out to read up on it.

BTW, your project is tres gorgeous!!!

I knew it would be beautiful, well done!!

This is truly DIVINE! A work of art! Congrats on the new baby in your family!

What a beautiful blanket. Congrats Auntie!

That does look like a challenging pattern. Lots going on. Yours looks beautiful.
