I think the name of this is fitting for this time in my life. I knit the bulk of it while on the road…first taking my daughter to college (I cried most of the way), and a month later to visit her and attend one of her soccer games. This shawl is well-traveled, that’s for sure!
I used Ella Rae Lace Merino in color #103.

[LEFT]I ran out of yarn with two rows + the bind off, so I emailed a few people on Ravelry in the hopes that someone would be willing to part with their scraps. Several people responded in the affirmative, and within a few days, I had my yarn and was able to finish.
I used size 6 needles and wound up using the entire skein plus 15 grams. Yay!

This is beautiful, you did an excellent job. when we took our daughter off to university, i cried all the way home!! Couldn’t really cry on the way, as she was in the car with me! Didn’t want to look that pathetic! linknit41
Thanks, everyone!!! I have to say that Ella Rae is some very fine yarn indeed! For lace yarn, it is a little thicker than one might expect. It’s not too flimsy, so it holds up well to tinking.
As far as crying, I started before we even left the house!! I cried on and off the entire way down. It didn’t matter if my daughter was in the car or not!! It totally broke my heart. I was fine after five days. I was fortunate in that I had just started my dream job, so I’ve been very distracted.
It’s gorgeous!!! Love the beautiful color and the lace pattern is lovely! What a fitting name too! (Moved our daughter into her first apartment in August - she was in a dorm the first two years. I still cried, but it was much easier this year. I’ve gotten used to my “me” time - didn’t take long, LOL - and LOVE it!)
I wore this last week, and it was a hit with my students! I have never worn a shawl before, so I was a little self-conscious, but I have to say that I am hooked. I plan on making more shawls!
