FO - silk blouse, first time working with a little bit of lace!

Just finished this top that I started a couple of months ago, using Knitting for Olive silk yarn on US 2 needles. Smallest needle size project I’d done to date (now working on my very first pair of socks) and while it felt like it took forever, I really loved the slow and methodical process! It has some vertical bust darts at the waist and hips on both the front and back, cap sleeves, and some english mesh lace stitch along the hems. I made a goal to learn some lace this year so I was glad I got to meet that goal with this project, love getting to add new skills to my knitting tool kit  (also I added 1 more button after taking these pics, I had to run to the store for it lol)

Stunning!

Such a beautiful pattern and you have made it incredibly well.

I have a mind to knit a silk tòp too (on my long list of things I want to knit!). Can I ask how many balls of the silk yarn it took for your top?

Beautifully knit! There is something so calming and meditative about the knitting process.
What is the name of your pattern please?

Thank you! This took just under 3 balls. At first I was a little surprised by this particular silk since it’s actually raw silk, and therefore is a lot less shiny and bit more neppy than the other mulberry silk yarns I’ve used before. But I think the texture helps it keep its shape with blocking better, and it’s extremely light and comfortable to wear. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you, and so true about the meditative aspect! It’s my own design and doesn’t have a name or pattern yet, but I’d like to make one for it! I graded out the different sizes for it ahead of time and knitted mine according to my size on the sizing chart.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been looking for a silk yarn and kept finding silk mixes or silk which had no description of the ethical aspects linked with the production. I’m really pleased to find the yarn you’ve used in the UK now that I know what name to look for. And even more pleased that a top can be made in around 3 balls - maybe 4 if I have sleeves.
Several decades ago I had two pure silk tops which were quite matt and no one ever believed they were silk, I wore them until they were shreds! They were so comfortable all year round.

That’s a big compliment coming from THE salmonmac!! I just added the project to Ravelry here, so it’ll eventually get linked to the pattern whenever that’s available! Ravelry: starcrossedknits' Ophelia Blouse

Haha my friends joke that I’m a mission to make knitting sexier. But I’m so glad to have found this lifelong hobby, and look forward to hopefully many future decades of it!!
