What a great idea! I love it! Did you hand sew or machine sew on the skirt and straps?
Thanks, everyone!!
Lisa, thanks for the pic…that’s kind of more like what I was going for. Funny how similar they are.
Jamadian, it really was super-easy. I just need to learn how to sew a little better. hehe.
gardenmommy, I machine sewed it. That’s why I decided to do a picot edge - I figured the seam would look like it ‘belonged’ with a picot edge.
love it. The colors are great, and I love the extra glamor of the beads in the mouth! TOO adorable!
Gimme, I’m going to threadnap your post here, and want to bounce some ideas off you and others.
I’m thinking of doing something like this for my niece who will be 3 at the end of August. She’s very into pinky-purple-princessy stuff, so I’d use some CottonTots I have left in those colors to do the top part, but it’s cotton and thus not very stretchy, so some kind of rib would be in order I think…would a 1 x 1 or 2 x 2 be best? Are the decorative ribs not as stretchy as the plain ribbing? Cotton would be best for a summer dress, right, although I do have some Cotton Fleece (80% cotton 20% wool).
Did you try it to make a new version that was more flowing and a “twirly” dress? I know my niece would love that. Did you do a provisional CO to do the picots on both ends? ALthough I just had an idea that a ruffle edge would be cute too! I was originally thinking of doing just a halter or tank top for her, but you can’t make a halter twirly.
So adorable! Great work on the dress!
Oh that is adorable!!!
I’m a newbie knitter, but I also just bought a sewing machine and I thought about doing something where the 2 skills are combined. I like what you did, thanks for sharing!!
