FO - Monkey's Summer Dress

This is a dress I made for the little monkey. It’s not exactly like I wanted it to be, but I see where I need to tweak the pattern. (I wanted the skirt to be more flow-y. and I may knit the straps next time.)

The body is Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Sunflower. I did a picot edge on the top and bottom.

She insisted on wearing my necklace…I figured letting her wear it for a few minutes was the least I could do since she agrees to fall victim to my sewing experiments.

Oh that is adorable! I think you did a fantastic job… hmmmm …I might have to try something like that too one day.

CUTE!! (Dress and toddler.)

My rule of thumb for gathering things is 2 and a half times the actual measurement. Works for curtains and skirts.

2 1/2 times…ahh, I did 1 1/2. I’ll try that next time, thanks so much, Sara!!

Adorable! I was going to suggest more fabric for the skirt as well.

That is so cute!

I like it! It’s a neat idea combining a knit top with a fabric skirt to make a dress. Your daughter is just loving your knitted creations!

I can empathize with your wanting to tweak! I feel like the more I knit, the more I want to tweak patterns to my liking. It seems the more you try new things, the more ideas you get and the better you get at making exactly what you want. This is what I like about this whole knitting thing! It’s such a fun, creative process!

You might also consider making it slightly wider at the bottom. It will hang nicer and be more comfortable.

thanks, Jan! Yah, I figured that one out after DD sat down - her dress turned her into a baby burrito. lol.

I figured this one was my prototype…just to see what all I needed to do.

That’s a great idea for a dress - I’ll have to try it myself. And your little girl is lovely!

Oh thats so cute =D Love that she has the necklace on and puts it in her mouth! I do that even today =P

How precious! The skirt is cute like it is and would be cute fuller too!

I’m so impressed!

It looks wonderful - I love the knitting & sewing combination!

 Toooooo cute!!! She is ADORABLE

too cute… and the dress too!!!

Look at those chubby cheeks! That’s one extra-sweet child!

Way to go on the dress, it looks great!

Very cute!!! :cheering:

I came across this picture (it’s not a pattern) and it made me think of the dress you’d made. Thought you might like to see the picture for ideas when you “tweak” yours in the future!

omgosh - that is adorable!!!

It looks wonderful! Good idea!

I. Love. This. Forum.

I have had the idea to make something EXACTLY like this for my 2 girls since I saw something similar in a LYS. After seeing this gorgeous rendition (with an adorable model no less), and reading your tips, I now feel more ready to tackle it! :cheering:
