This is a dress I made for the little monkey. It’s not exactly like I wanted it to be, but I see where I need to tweak the pattern. (I wanted the skirt to be more flow-y. and I may knit the straps next time.)
The body is Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Sunflower. I did a picot edge on the top and bottom.
She insisted on wearing my necklace…I figured letting her wear it for a few minutes was the least I could do since she agrees to fall victim to my sewing experiments.
I like it! It’s a neat idea combining a knit top with a fabric skirt to make a dress. Your daughter is just loving your knitted creations!
I can empathize with your wanting to tweak! I feel like the more I knit, the more I want to tweak patterns to my liking. It seems the more you try new things, the more ideas you get and the better you get at making exactly what you want. This is what I like about this whole knitting thing! It’s such a fun, creative process!
I came across this picture (it’s not a pattern) and it made me think of the dress you’d made. Thought you might like to see the picture for ideas when you “tweak” yours in the future!
I have had the idea to make something EXACTLY like this for my 2 girls since I saw something similar in a LYS. After seeing this gorgeous rendition (with an adorable model no less), and reading your tips, I now feel more ready to tackle it! :cheering:
