FO Headbands and mitts

So a friend asked if I could knit her a headband for paddle boarding and sent me a link to one she liked. I gave her a couple of pattern choices and some yarn colours to choose from. She couldn’t choose out of two colours so I made them both. And had left over yarn so made the mitts to match. She offered to pay the retail price for them :flushed: But I said no because it’s good practice for me so she’s paid for the yarn only (and added a little extra bless her).

I finally finished the seaweed colour ones last night. I had a ‘mare with the last mitt. I was near the end of the thumb gusset and thought I’d lost a stitch somewhere so tinked it and eventually frogged it. Only to realise I’d read the pattern wrong. Twice :woman_facepalming: I blame brain fog…

So lovely. Sounds like your friend understands that yarn is valuable but bespoke gifts are priceless.

Very thoughtful gifts beautifully worked in yummy colors. What pattern did you use for each?

The pattern was Epicea headband by Maud Coppel on Ravelry. I adapted the pattern to make the mitts.

For the mitts I used this pattern https://www.simple-knitting.com/easy-fingerless-mitts.html

I dropped the 2 stitches at the begining of each row. I did 10 rows of rib, pattern for 8. I increased for 14 rows in pattern, including the thumb gusset (not in pattern, it was stst). So I had to remember to minus two stitches for the gusset. Then I patterned for another 10 rows after joining the gusset. This meant I finished on the last row of the pattern. Then I ribbed for four rows.

That probably makes no sense whatsoever lol. I’ll try to write it out at some point.

Yes, I think she absolutely does.

They look really nice, love the seaweed colour! Shame you had problems with the pattern, we’ve all been there, though!
