I’m so glad to have it done. US15 needles and super chunky yarn are hard on the hand muscles. Those final outside logs were WORK.
Final size: 46" x 50"…perfect for putting baby on the floor.
Here is my Great-Grandson, due in June!

I love it, Dollyce! Is it to be a gift? Your great grandson is adorable. :teehee:
What a great blanket! I’m sure it will get lots of use! :yay:
Wow you got that done super fast! I can’t imagine finishing a blankie quite as fast as you did. You did an awesome job!!! :yay: I love the colors!!!
That is one lucky grandson.
Yes, already starting gifts for the baby shower! :happydance:
What a wonderful gift!
A beautiful blanket for a very special occasion!
It’s beautiful!!! Love the colors!
Very nice. I tried to find a pattern for the log cabin on ravelry. I found one that was suppose to be easy and free, however I cannot download it. Would you know where I could find one- an easy one.? I would like to make one for my grandson. I have 3 colors I would like to use for it. I started to knit blocks and then sew them together but I did not like how it looked. I would like to make one where stitches are added. Thanks
I tried to download that free log cabin pattern, too, from the knit-o-matic website that is accessible from Ravelry…but both of my download attempts were unsuccessful. There is something wrong with their software or their website itself IMO.
I learned the fundamentals of log cabinning from the Mason-Dixon book. You can find a log cabin project page at Ravelry by typing Mason-Dixon log cabin into the pattern search. They offer a free log cabin pattern, the Moderne Baby Log Cabin. I’ve knit that one several times.
But if you want to learn the other log cabin style like my black-red-grey-cream blanket, you might have to buy the book from Amazon, and a link for the book is on the Mason-Dixon log cabin project page at Ravelry. Or maybe your local library has one in stock.
BTW, the book is worth every dollar! It’s their best book ever!
Here’s some basic log cabin instructions that are really all you need I think. That being said I think the book is worth it. I got it first from the library then decided I wanted it.

And here’s the pattern (free) for the Moderne Log Cabin.

Thanks for hooking us up, Jan!
You got me going on the blanket, Dollyce. Since “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” I copied your color choices also. They are not going to know the gender of the baben before it’s birth.
I’m also really tired, tired and TIRED of pink! Both DGD’s love pink. They gravitate towards it like I do black.
He’s really cute! Teehee. Aren’t those the colors that they say babies can see real well from early on? Very nice gift.
I hadn’t heard that! Good to know stuff like that! You’re ahead of me in the latest baby studies! I’ve been out of the loop! :teehee:
Thank you Dollyce & Jan for the information and the free patterns. I am going to order the Mason Dixon Book - My resolution from the other thread is to not purchase anymore yarn until I finish a few of the several projects I have waiting to be done- but it does not include not buying knitting books, magazines and more needles:teehee: The book will be a birthday present to myself for tomorrow.
You won’t regret it! Great book, with numerous log cabin patterns, great directions, plus lots of designs for the home! I love the baby bib pattern, too!
I happily own both Mason-Dixon books! :happydance:
HI:muah: are you kidding me? Great Grand Baby??? OMG I guess I haven’t been here in a loooong time…You still rock it!!! Oh, and BTW, love those Mason Dixon chics…
I really do like your beautiful floor mat for g’grand son. Yes those are supposed to be the colors a new baby sees best.
I could/should live to be a great-great gramma! When my great grandson is 20, I’ll only be 82! Very do-able with the longevity genes in our family, the non-smokers that is. The smokers die young.
