This is from Interweave Knits Fall 2005. It was super quick and fun to make. The only thing I really did differently than the pattern was I doubled the yarn to make it extra sturdy once felted, and instead of using the convoluted instructions for joining the side panel to the front/back as it was knitted, I knit the panel completely seperate and single crocheted it together. It was much easier than how the pattern described, and since it was being felted, it didn’t have to be perfect. The yarn is Patons Classic Wool Merino - 1 skein ‘Regency’ and 2 skeins ‘Deep Red’. The first picture shows what the front and back pieces looked like before felting.
Yes, I guess it is a ruffle around the flap. All it is, is 2x2 ribbing for 4 rounds, but before starting that you pick up waaaay more stitches than there are around the edge of the flap and it comes out ruffly.
Wonderful work! Thanks for sharing all the notes with us, too! Good notes are so helpful, especially if we want to make one, too!
We appreciate all of your work so much!
