FO - Big Wool Little Hat

A friend of mine just had a baby, and right before she was due, she asked if I’d make a hat for her soon-to-be-born son.

I found this free pattern, which was exactly what she had in mind. She told me she wanted the hat in brown and blue.

I used size 13 needles and made the toddler size. I left off the long braids. For some reason, I balked at the possible choking hazard.

The yarn is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick.

My pictures aren’t great, but I think you get the general idea. Oh, and this only took me a couple of hours. GREAT, easy project!

How precious for him to have something to grow into. He gets that gorgeous baby blanket and an adorable hat - smart thinking on your part, and lucky boy on his!!!

I have a sneaky suspicion that the hat will fit him very soon. I read a lot of comments about this pattern on Ravelry (I always do my homework), and many people had noted that the infant size was very, very small. My friend’s baby was over 9.5 pounds, and he never fit in newborn diapers. So, I think I did fine with the sizing of this hat.

Awww so cute!

The hat is adorable and the earflaps are an excellant idea. Good choice of colors for the little (er…big) guy.

Very cute hat! And with it being a fast knit to boot, well, you can’t go wrong with that!

You balanced these two projects out nicely–the blanket that took a while to make and required lots of detail work and the quick knitted hat!

Very cute! And nevermind the braids – in my experience, they just dangle there with no real purpose anyway:)

I really didn’t plan to balance things out. I was about halfway finished with the blanket when she asked if I could make the hat. She found a crocheted pattern, and I found something similar in a knitted form. She told me the colors she wanted.

While the blanket was blocking, I knit this up.

It is very cute. She is going to love it for her little one

It is adorable! Great design! Great work! And, I love blue and brown!

I love it!..put a smile onto my face as soon as I saw it, and it knit up quickly…how good is that!
