FO - Baby Surprise Jacket and bonnet

I finished this little jacket and bonnet for my housekeepers soon to be born baby. No idea what sex it is so I tried to keep it unisex.

I used the new A-B-C-SJ pattern from Schoolhouse Press for the jacket. This pattern is great with line by line instructions and info for other sizes, hood, sleeve extensions etc.

The hat is Anime Top Down Bonnet. I didnā€™t do ears or embroidery on this one.

Iā€™ve made several BSJs so I felt comfortable now adjusting the pattern with help from the BSJ group on Rav. I did the increases/decreases on both sides instead of a double decrease or increase. I like this much better and it creates sharper corners. I also didnā€™t do the length increase so itā€™s more of a cropped jacket. Also did sleeve extensions and cuffs.

The only thing I changed on the hat was the decrease at the back for shaping. I didnā€™t like the one they had.

Very Very CUTE!!!

Jan, your sweater and hat are just beautiful! How lucky the recipient and Mom are. Thanks for the links also, I may just try that pattern soon.:knitting:

So adorable!!!

So cute, Jan! Iā€™ve been sewing for my newest DGD, lotā€™s of cute, warm stuff. Canā€™t wait to get back to knitting.

Oh Jan the baby set is just beautiful. The colors are just perfect, wish I had a baby to knit for.
Again the set is just beautiful.

Absolutely adorable!! I love how they turned out! Great job on the revisions.

Janā€¦the sweater and hat are just adorable!!:yay: :yay: I have made 2 BSJs now and I have to say they are addictive. Your pattern changes are interesting. Would you mind explaining how you did the increases/decreases? I think I would like to try your method, but I donā€™t understand how you made the change.

Thanks for sharing the pics!!!

Thanks everyone! I love making these little sweaters! I donā€™t have babies to knit for either Wanda, but I do them for gifts and I think one went to charity.

Iā€™m not sure I can explain it any better than this thread on Ravelry. It took me a couple trys to get it right. Itā€™s easy once you figure it all out. Iā€™ll help if I can though for sure.

Very nice. I like the way you used the colors. The extra long cuffs look good and I love the buttons. Beautiful work!

Oh - this little set is so adorable. I love the buttons.

SIMPLY DIVINE, Jan! Great knitting, and I really love the color placements! Very nice! I think this baby jacket is my all time favorite, although Iā€™ve yet to knit one!

Darn, when is someone gonna have another baby!?? :tap:

Oh, that is so sweet! Beautiful knitting, Jan!:muah:

Thank you for the link for the bonnet. I really like the way it is shaped in the back and the ears are an extra bonus.

Your set turned out really cute too. Your housekeeper will be thrilled.

I really liked the ears, too. Iā€™ve been debating about adding them, but Iā€™m not sure itā€™ll work in this color.

Superbbbbbbbbb

What yarn did you use, Jan?

I really like the colors you chose. Also, thatā€™s a really cute little hat, Iā€™ve never seen that one before.

Thanks! Itā€™s Plymouth Encore Colorspun in color 7711 I believe.
