Another little cardigan for a boy. I really like this yarn and wish it was still available…Phildar Loisirs 139 used double.
So cute! I really admire all of you who do sweaters. Ever since my granddaughter was born in September I have tried to talk myself into doing sweaters but I keep getting cold feet! I think I keep talking myself out of attempting them because I honestly don’t think I would do well with seams. I know I have to get over that fear and just take the plunge!

It really isn’t as bad as it seems once you do it! Or you could always try a seamless pattern for your first sweater to make it a little easier on yourself!

lgoddard Good news, no seams unless you count a three needle bind off for the shoulders. Look around you can probably find a pattern without seams. And thank you for the comments.

There is a story to go with the buttons. I thought I’d used white but then didn’t think I’d like it. I had some brown, etc, but not what I wanted. I called my old friend who used to have the LYS and asked if she had any aqua buttons. She just happened to be sorting through her buttons that morning, by color. She said she didn’t have many, but I could take away any I liked. So I got these.

Slim, I didn’t use a pattern, but you could probably adapt any basic crew neck cardigan with inset sleeves to the same look. I used 4 rows of St st on all the edges for the rolled edge and 5 rows of 1X1 ribbing in the CC. The button bands were done vertically and the neck edge picked up right at the top of the button bands and then continued up with the neck so that the rolled edge was continuous at the neck.

I have quite a few of the Phildar pattern books for babies and children. A lot of their yarns were blends of acrylic and wool that had a nicer quality than straight acrylic. Many of the old ones are gone but Phidar still makes blends like this but you can’t get them anywhere in this country that I know of any more and I can’t figure out how to tell what I’m getting looking at the French site.

You should! You can start with something like a shrug, which is smaller, even.
