Some of you might remember a conversation about transforming an unfortunate short row heel into an afterthought heel. Well, that’s the result.
I can’t say that I love them, I think the yarn is too busy and it was pooling so I had to use broken rib pattern but it was good practice for a different sock construction. I think they were very fast socks because the afterthought heel is basically another toe, so it’s easy to make. The heel fit is OK but not perfect, it’s hard to guess how many stitches should be left to graft, so that it’s not too pointy or too shallow.
But I think the socks got approved by my son who endured the photoshoot on the playground after which he decided to keep those socks on Thanks for looking!
It is always a good thing when the kids keep on what you knit. lol The socks look great, but I agree that is some busy yarn almost like the crazy old test patterns. With shoes on you don’t notice it much though.
Thank you! Oh, the socks look black and white on your screen? (Is that what you are saying? Or you just like sharp contrast?) The yarn is actually light blue and navy.
I like 'em. I really prefer solid colors and changing them when I choose to. Are they more comfortable, or less I wonder. The foot model is a definite keeper.
LOL! I have no idea about the comfort/fit… They look fine, and I started noticing that my kids often choose knitted socks instead of cotton ones (even though it’s really warm outside) when they pick their outfits.
