One of our very talented knitters B featured her FLIRTY RUFFLED SKIRT a couple days ago in Whatcha Knitting.
Here is her wonderful skirt!
Everyone just loves it!! Including me!!
She said the pattern was originally featured in a Creative Knitting Magazine. And she accessed it through knittingpatterncentral, however, it is no longer available.
Does anyone know: what BACK ISSUE of Creative Knitting contains this adorable ruffled skirt?
I’ve tinkered around at the Creative Knitting website, but I had absolutely no luck. Then I GOOGLED the words flirty-ruffled-skirt-knit…and didn’t get anywhere but dead ends. Not the right flirty skirt.
Can anyone help me? There were also others that were interested in this charming skirt!
It was such a delight to see a SKIRT show up on the radar in Whatcha Knitting!
Well, sassy, flirty, easy mistake:-). But yay!:cheering: I also couldn’t find it in Creative Knitting, so I looked at skirts in Ravelry, which, fortunately, is a small section, and that came up, then just followed the trail:cool: . Glad it worked out!
IMHO, making a copy for a friend or someone you know at your LYS is still for personal use “only”. My big problem with this kind of situation is that the pattern not only was once free, but now is unavailable. If the person who wrote or has the rights to it is so interested in making money, than let them. But they’re not, so you’re not depriving them of even 1 penny by copying it for one other person. And in these days of eBay, it gets pretty sticky-- if you sell a book, and let’s say it’s a hard to find number, so you paid $20 for it and now can get $40. Are you supposed to pay the writer or the publisher a cut from your profit? . . . So what about the person selling this pattern on eBay, are they in the wrong?. . .
One lady on Ebay was selling the pattern last week. By the time I messaged her about the format (pdf or snail mail)…the pattern had sold, and she only had one copy evidentally.
So there she was, before God and The World, selling the pattern on EBAY no less! Not for free, for money. Not a lot of money, but not for free!
Dang, I wish I had not messaged her. Someone else grabbed it 'fore me! :pout:
She said she’s had it for sale for ages…then all of a sudden, two people want it! :teehee:
That ruffle at the bottom, looks like I’ve seen very similar maybe in one of Nicky Epstein’s books, Knitting on the Edge, maybe. then an inch or 2 of lace, then just stockinette. Not too hard to do w/out a pattern, really.
For what it’s worth, I’ve emailed Creative Knitting to see if it may still be available somewhere. I know it was from the May 2005 magazine, so I’ll let y’all know what kind of reply I get.
