Flat construction only no knitting in the round patterns

So I’m looking for sweater patterns knitted using flat construction. I tried Ravelry with flat construction as a filter and it still brought up knitting in the round sweaters. Where can I find old patterns from 30 years ago using flat construction or even brand new knitting patterns knitted flat whereby the back, front and sleeves are knitted separately on straight needles or circulars but knitted flat not in the round and then sewn up with seams. Anyone can help me?

If you find a place which lists only patterns knit flat with seamed construction do let us know as other knitters would be interested too, me included.

Some people suggest older patterns are more often suitable but people used to use DPNs before circulars came along so I have found that older patterns are just as likely to be worked in the round too.

You can improve your ravelry filter which you might find more useful.
Patterns, advanced search, filter your search.
Attributes, construction, select “worked flat”
Then look at the bottom of the attributes box, there is an additional drop down menu
“How should these filters relate?”
It is probably set to “OR: match any of these”
Click to drop down the menu
Select “advanced…” for more
A box opens with choice of “single filter” or “multiple filter” at the top. You should be on multiple
In here it already has “worked flat” as previously selected
Use menus to change the empty boxes to
AND seamed
AND NOT worked in the round
AND NOT seamless

This should narrow the results a bit more successfully.

Another thing I’d really recommend is learning how to modify a circular pattern to a flat knit pattern if these are what you like. Some are harder than others but you can start with a more straight forward one and progress to more challenging modifications if you want to. I decided to learn this as I really do prefer to work flat and seam, for various reasons, and i can now modify basic patterns.

I hope this helps

Drops (Garn studio) have heaps of free patterns like that, I’m doing one right now, Drops 170-3. I’ve knitted the front on cables and now about to start the back…. Which I shall bring to the forum in a separate post because I’m stuck already

The designer Anne Hanson does mostly sweaters and cardis knitted flat and seamed. Her patterns are well-written and quite detailed. I did her “Leaving” as my second-ever sweater and enjoyed her pattern very much. Many of them include directions for pullover or cardi.
