Fitted knits pattern help

Hi guys, can you help me understand this?
I have finished up the part where I divide the front from back (making the turtleneck tube vest) and I’m read to start on the lower body. The pattern reads like this…

with the back sts on needles and rs facing, use the backward loop method

and cast on 9 sts. place the front sts on teh opposite end of the
circular
needle, making sure the rs of the fabric is facing out. work across
the
front, maintaingin the 12 ribbed sts at each end. cast on 9 sts, place

marker, and join for working in the round - 180 sts.

It’s really confusing me on how to connect it. I’m not getting it.
Right now my front stitches are on a holder because i worked the front first, and my back stitches is what has the working yarn on it. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I would love for this to be my 3rd FO lol

Thanks!

Ok, so you have the front side of the back half facing you…the working yarn should be at the end of the FS row (on the right needle as the sts have already been worked. Cast on 9 stitches. Then, work the stitches for the front from your holder onto the circular making sure the right side is facing you (since they’re already on a holder, no reason to put them on the circular since they’ll end up there) until you reach the end of the front side. Cast on 9 more stitches. Place marker and join in the round. Hope that helps.
