Fish Lips Kiss Heel

Um, well, you see, I don’t think I ever really used that heel but trying it may be what’s nibbling at the back of my mind.

I feel I owe jinx an apology. I started out trying to be helpful and got so hung up on things that I fear I’ve disparaged the FLK heel which I didn’t mean to do but I can be that way and I know it. Please accept my apology, jinx.

Yes, that’s exactly right! I got thrown at first because the pattern talked about the ‘first half’ of the heel. I was knitting sideways on the circs, and for some reason I took the ‘half’ to mean just that: half of the heel vertically. How does that work? I was wondering. Then as I knit my big test version I saw that she means top half and bottom half. Then it all fell into place! I am now almost done with my real sock heel. Stopping for now because the teeny tiny stitching is making my thumbs hurt, but it’s almost finished. I’m glad you like the pattern, it seems like a super easy way to make a sock, and , like it says, once you know how you can basically throw away the pattern. Much less drama than the first pair I made!

Oh, no need for an apology! I wasn’t explaining it well, conceptually. But it really seems super easy.

That’s it EXACTLY! :cheering:

Looking forward to seeing your fish lips kiss sox, jinx! :yay:

Hi, I am knitting toe up socks, just finished the fish lips kiss heel, and 1 inch of stockinette stitch - now I have to start in the round. When I begin knitting in the round, there are huge gaps on either side of the heel. Please advise. Thanks, Neeta1

Welcome to KH!
Why are you knitting an inch in stockinette before working in the round on the instep stitches? What pattern are you using?
You can see in the photos on the Ravelry page that the pattern continues above and below heel.

Thanks for your reply. I realized that after posting the message. Nice to know that I can always come here for any help I need when I have a knitting problem. Have a great day.
