First baby sweater, need sleeve help please?

Can someone explain what this means. It’s a sleeve on sirdar sweater. Inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every foll 9th row?

Work 4 more rows and then increase at [I]each [/I]end of the next row, row 5 and the on rows 14, 23,32,41,50 and so on until you’ve done the number of increases specified.
If you want to keep the increases on the right side rows, you can move the increases on wrong side rows to the next row or the previous row without affecting the sleeve. If you knit both sleeves at the same time with separate balls of yarn, it’s easier to keep the increases on the same row. If not, keep good notes.

Thank you for the suggestion of keeping track of the increase rows ! This is my first baby sweater, when they say to have the length 6 1/2 inches does that usually include the inch ribbed cuff or not?

Yes, include the cuff or ribbing. The lenght is measured from the cast on unless the pattern says otherwise. Good luck with the baby sweater. We’d love to see a photo if you’d like to post one.

Thanks again for your help. I am worried LOL I have never made a sweater and this pattern is filled with never before lingo I am at the part where is says to shape raglan and I am thinking hmmmm another 24 rows that seems like too long of a sleeve. Here is the pattern I am making, it’s old and and not available any longer. You have to sew up all the parts instead of knitting in one piece. But it’s really cute if I am pull it off.

The raglan decreases may seem long but you’re probably decreasing from the underarm to the neck so the shoulder length is there too. If you have more questions, just come right back and we’ll all be happy to try to help.
It’s just as well not to attach the whole pattern anyway. We get into copyright problems. If you need it later, here are directions for posting a photo.

I appreciate all you did with helping me. I have all the parts done, but putting it all together is proving a little complicated. When googling I found a local yarn shop and will be going there Tuesday to get help with an instructor. When I get it done I will be sure and post a photo.

Certainly your local yarn store will be able to show you how-to as well. I’ve almost invariably found the LYS staff to be experienced and willing. (They’ll be especially helpful if you are also purchasing yarn for your next project.)
