First Baby Blanket Question

I just finished my first baby blanket. It is basic garter knit squares (25) that I seamed together. Now the back of the blanket has all these seams. Is it supposed to be like that or am I supposed to do something else? Will those seams be comfy for baby? Blanket turned out GREAT but I don’t want to give it to my niece if it’s not finished… thank you!!

Seams do leave ridges. The only way to avoid them is make it in one piece. You could put a piece of fleece on the back. Something somewhat stretchy since knitting stretches. You’d have to sew it around the edges then tack it down in the center several places.

Darn - I have never done that… ug. Now I have to learn again! Thanks so much for responding:yay:

Snuggle up with the seamy side of the blanket and see what you think about how it feels. It might be OK as is. Sometimes little kids like things that add texture and she might like it fine as is.

If the bumpy parts of the seams are only on the 1 side you could just leave it like that and call 1 side the “front” and the other side the “back”.

That’s what I’ve done before. After it gets washed a few times, the seams could soften a bit too.
