Finishing off edges of a blanket

Help! A knitted blanket that I received from my sister is starting to come lose around the edges. It looks like when she changed colors, she didn’t tie off the last color very well and some ends are coming out. Has anyone had experience with using a satin ribbon or some fabric to finish off the edges if a knitted blanket? I will have to go at least two inches inside the edge of the blanket to cover up some of the spots where it has come apart. Any ideas or tips would be great, thanks!

Oh no!!!

You might consider using blanket binding (looks sort of like satin bias tape) available at any fabric store to firmly sew an edging onto your blanket.

I would also suggest the blanket binding, but you might want you run the edges of the blanket through a sewing machine first to hold the stitches in place. If you sew inside the edge of the unravelling, they won’t come undone any further. Then you can add the binding for appearance rather than structure.

Sometimes in a pinch fabric glue will work, if it won’t look messy

Is it just the woven in ends coming out or are there actually stitches coming undone? What’s it made of, synthetic, wool, a blend? The suggestions above are great but it would be good to have more info.
