Finding interchangeable needles

Good day all, I want to try badknittyknit’s Classic French Beret. It calls for 3mm 16" and a 3.25mm 24" circulars. My current set (Lykke Birchwood 5" interchangeables) only go down to 3.5mm. I’ve looked around online for hours and I’m still not sure if there’s a way to add these two smaller sizes to my set. Has anyone out there mastered this particular mystery? Thanks for any thoughts!

Beautiful beret!

There are interchangeable tips at least for the 3.25mm but I don’t know if they will work with Lykke cables. Knit Pro and ChiaoGoo are supposed to have 3mm.

also Amazon has 3.25mm tips.

ChiaoGoos don’t fit any other cables, as they have reversed the connector pieces.

Most other tips will work with Lykke cables, or the other way round. I used Knitter’s Pride cables with Lykkes for a while, until I found the more flexible Lantern Moon ones.

HiyaHiyas come in 2.75 (US 2)–https://www.amazon.com/Hiya-Interchangeable-Tips-3-5Mm-Bamboo/dp/B0086S7GTQ?th=1

Lykke and Knitter’s Pride/Knit Pro components are interchangeable. What country are you in? These links ship to US only but Knitter’s Pride/Knit Pro short tips should be available from other sources. If you want to use short circs you’ll have to get short tips. Knitter’s Pride and Zing have short tips in 3.00.

I use the swivel Lantern Moon cables with my Zing and other Knitter’s Pride tips, as an example of different brands of pieces working together.

If you’re in the UK woolwarehouse have knitpro interchangable which fit lykke cables, I use them with my lykke set. They have the normal length and the shorty length tips
I use the beech 3 mm and 3.25 mm but there are other options too

If you need smaller, because perhaps of gauge or you like a smaller one for rib etc then there are smaller sizes in fixed circulars 2mm 2.25, 2.5, 2.75 mm in the same material type. I use these too.

My skinny sock skewers are fixed circs. For larger sizes I prefer interchangeables. I really like the Lantern Moon cables with my Knitter’s Pride tips. I decided that if they look like clones of Knitter’s Pride/Knit Pro (Lykke and other brands) they’re probably compatible.

Thank you all! I’m in the US. These links are so helpful and I can’t wait to click on all of them. I found these brands all over the place but I kept finding sets and not individual needles so again, thank you all!

My earlier link won’t be much help being in a different country but here I can also get single needles on amazon. Knitpro which I believe is the same as knitpicks which others have mentioned too.

Sets can be an economical way to get a wide range of sizes, but singles are best until you know for sure that you like a brand. This page offers single Lykkes (scroll down to the multi-color ones): https://www.theneedlestore.com/collections/lykke-driftwood

You can get separate cords on that site as well, though I find them VERY stiff. KnitPicks Purple cords are the most flexible plastic cords I’ve found, although I prefer the braided cables from Lantern Moon. They are kind of pricey, though. I wish they sold cords without the stoppers and turning key–I have plenty of those now! https://www.lanternmoon.com/products/fixed-cords

I think @GrumpyGramma uses the swivels–I haven’t tried those. https://www.lanternmoon.com/products/swivel-cords

Yes, I got the swivels to try them out and now I love them. No swivel might be why I didn’t like the red stainless steel cables but that experience was a long time ago. Sometimes I prefer a less flexible cable.
