Felting?

ahh thank you both for telling me that!

I am TERRIFIED to ask this question…someone mentioned Lopi as a ā€œmistakeā€ā€¦is that because of the cost? or the fact that it doesn’t felt.

I am making this messenger bag, the pattern called for 6 balls…I am well into the 4th, and there is NO way I’ll have enough…so I know I"ll have to go out and get more…PLEASE tell me it is expensive, and it felted up beautifully, you just wish you got WOTA instead??? pretty please…

(BUT…tell me true…lol…)

Lopi can be a bit itchy - so for a garment it would not be the best, but for a messenger bag, I think it would be fabulous. Knit on!

Heather …

I understand that Lopi felts quite nicely, as a matter of fact here’s a pattern for a bag made w/ Lopi. It looks pretty darn felted to me!!

Oh, and correct me if I’m wrong, Ingrid, but it’s only animal fibers that felt, right???

yes, only animal fibers…and THANK YOU!!! I can go to the yarn store with confidence today…lol…

i said it was a mistake because i didn’t like the way it felted. it wasn’t firm and it was quite itchy. it was Lopi Reynolds and it was $5.95/skein

I think you’re right. Some blends say their feltable, but I don’t know more than what they claim on the label.

Well, I guess I meant blends that include animal fibers. I’ve felted Lion Brand Landscapes yarn before – it felts quite well. I was disappointed, though, w/ the way my Karaoke felted. I should add, though, that I have a front-load washing machine. It might felt better in a top-loader.
