I’ve seen “felting” on magazines and books. Is it really as simple as washing your knitted work in hot water with a couple of pairs to jeans to rough it up?

I would appreaciate some guidance or clarification on this technique.

Pretty much, yup. I’ve heard people getting creases in the spin cycle so I remove them before (but I’ve forgotten and never had problems)

Also, it takes more than one load for me, and if you’re concerned about your machine you might want to put them in a pillow case to trap any excess fibers.

It is pretty simple, however you do need to use an animal fiber that has not been treated. Fibers such as wool and alpaca felt nicely as long as they aren’t superwash which is treated yarn.
