Felting Noro yarn

Hi everyone. I thought I’d throw this out to my favorite bunch of experts and ask if anyone has had problems felting with Noro at all?

I’ve felted with WOTA and some other wools but this stuff just isn’t budging. I’ve sent it (a bag) through the wash twice in a pillow case with a load of jeans and it just doesn’t seem to be shrinking or felting.

I know I can send it through again and again but just wondering if anyone has an idea of how many MORE times or if this normal. And yes the “operator” does have her moments  .

Thanks guys!

In my experience, Noro does take a while to felt. I think it took 3 times for my Booga bag. Don’t give up – it will happen!

Also make sure your water is on the lowest level …

which Noro are you using?

I’ve felted Kureyon on its own, and it didn’t shrink much but it definitely got REALLY fuzzy and soft.

Hi guys.

I’m a cheapo and can’t bear running things by themselves so I usually felt my stuff with an actual load of wash (of course it isn’t the super grubby stuff :D) . That may be part of my problem.

To answer the kind of yarn, it’s the Kureyon. I used double strand when I knit the whole thing so that may be it to.

I’ll run it through again and see what it looks like.

Thanks for the advice!!

I had some wool that I was told was difficult to felt. When I did test swatches {in a regular load of laundry}, it didn’t really felt at all. The finished product felted in about 20-30 mins of “hot” processing with fabulous results. The water level and all that really does make a difference. I’m not sure if I posted the pics here, but I have before {Feb 9th or so} and after {Feb 25th or so} pics on my blog of my Knitting Olympics project, where you can really see the difference that “proper” conditions makes to felting results.
