Favorite cotton yarn?

When I crocheted, I always used Sugar & Cream or Peaches & Creme. Now that I’m knitting, I don’t like them as much.

Wondering what everyone likes for cotton. I live in the South and even though it’s chilly now, it won’t last.

For knitting a top or sweater, use larger needles. Something like a 10 or 10.5 is better. It makes a looser knit and a lot lighter weight for a garment.

I haven’t used too much cotton, but I liked the Knitpicks Shine. I don’t like Sugar and Cream all that much either.

I like Blue Sky Alpaca’s cotton yarns. Definitely more expensive and I don’t generally like knitting with cotton very much but if I am going to knit cotton I usually go with them. I love the colors a LOT!

For a nice basic yarn, Lion Brand’s Cotton Ease is nice. I was handing dome yesterday and thought it felt much smoother than the Peaches and Cream cotton. It is a 50/50 blend of cotton and acrylic, but it is very smoochable. I found it in with the crochet yarns rather than over with the rest of the Lion Brand yarns at JoAnn and it has a different wrapper than their other yarns. Also Lion Brand makes a 100% organic cotton in their Nature’s Choice line which is much softer than Peaches and Cream and it is 100% all cotton.

I’m a crocheter originally too and I used to use Peaches N’ Cream and Sugar N’ Cream only. Now that I knit more than anything, I really like using smoother mercerized cottons like Patons Grace… it comes in nice colors and is SO much softer and shinier than the others.

I made a sweater for my mom using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece. It’s 80% cotton and 20% merino, so it has a bit of spring to it. LOVELY!

Knitpicks Cotlin is nice too.

I recently discovered Jeanee, a cotton blend by plymouth yarns. It’s very soft. TLC cotton plus is also a nice cotton blend.

What a beautiful sweater!!!
