Hello, I’m new to this, I’ve just joined, my name is Julie and I’ve been knitting for 48 years (I’m 54). I have a question. What does everyone think of fabric glue? I was thinking mainly when I make baby blankets and the raw edge when I am finishing the blanket. Would anyone advise fabric glue or not? Thanks
To be honest I wouldn’t, it would make the yarn stiff and babies also might suck parts of the blanket, including the edges. Steeking may be a better option, and less potential mess, if you’re not adding a separate border.
I’m sounding stupid now but what’s steeking?
You’re not being stupid - a lot of people haven’t heard of it, but I found this guide that explains it for people who haven’t done it before: https://sheepamongwolves.net/2017/08/how-to-steek-for-the-absolute-beginner/
I think if you make your blanket a bit bigger than you need, because you’ll be sacrificing some of the edges, it will still work.
Thanks for that. I will have a go at it!!!
Cool, let us know how you got on!
Will do and thanks for all your help
