I see from looking at your Ravelry pictures that this is a rabbit more of the hare family than the cottontail (i.e., long legs). I also see that your dog is doing what dogs do–rabbit catching! Hope he didn’t mess anything up too badly!
Yes, it’s important to make these out of a good tough yarn. I like the Hobby Lobby ‘I Love This Yarn’ acrylic more than the Red Heart for feel.
