That is beautiful!!! I can’t begin to imagine felting something that big.
You did great!
First, that is one beautiful blanket! I love the colors, too.
Question: It says "Another Felted Blanket:
Did you make another one? If so, Is it posted somewhere that we can see it??
Jen
Wow, it’s so pretty. great colour combo too.
Yes I did, but it was for my daughter’s dorm mate and I never got a photo.
The blankets were suppose to be identical but KnitPicks, discontinued 2 of the colors in Merino.
Actually there was a 1st blanket that took absolutely FOREVER, that was a disaster.
I did not knowing what I was doing! I used 675 sts per row (45 minutes to make one row) and use double knitting stitch, (K1, Sl1)
Felting came out all uneven, light colored yarn didn’t want to felt, dark yarn felted in knots.
To make this piece of . . . “whatever”, usable I used about ten 12" x 48" shelves, lined up on my dining room table, as a block. Wet, I took the piece of “whatever” stapled, ironed, re-wet, re-stapled, more ironing, removed staples, re-stapled, (used over 3,500 staples) etc. etc. etc. This took approx. a month, maybe longer.
I still have lots more “whatever” left but so far I cut a tub rug and a toilet rug for my daughter’s 1st apartment, next fall.

You are one dedicated lady!!! Lovely, lovely, lovely!
:passedout:
Kurango, (in reponse to post #24) That is an amazing story. What a project. I don’t know if I would have had it in me to get all that accomplished. Are you saying that you got a blanket for your daughter’s friend and the two rugs all out of that first project? If that is it…WOW, you had a huge piece going there. I’m in awe!
You truly are a dedicated, talented and patient knitter!
I think the colors are really beautiful, also. Tell me, though, do you ever knit anything for yourself? I’d love to see what else you’ve made.
I made three, my daughter got one, her roommate got one and the “Whatever” project will probably be bathroom rugs for the next 20 years. LOL
I am so glad that you were able to not only learn from your disaster but end up making something usable out of it. They look great and maybe they are not all soft and perfect for a blanket but for bathroom rugs they sure look awesome.
Great looking bathroom rugs.
Once they are felted can they be put in the washing machine and tumbledrier or just the washing machine and then pinned out to reshape while drying?
Karina,
Actually, I have not rewash them. I made i-cords (that I have not attached yet) to go around edges, BUT . . .
since I Blocked the piece of “whatever” so intensively I think they will be able to handle the dryer.
