I know there’s also a Burda knitting magazine, but I haven’t really looked at it. The Russian Burda website seems to have a nice selection of free knitting patterns, but reading Russian is sadly beyond me. (I used to study languages so I can figure out patterns that use the Latin alphabet or a variation thereof with a bit of effort and Google translate. As long as the pattern has a schematic and a standard construction method.)
Also, Verena looks to have been an interesting magazine judging by the entries on Ravelry, but it is no more.
I will come back to this post and note which languages each one publishes in and whether you can get hold of individual patterns or magazines.
Another fun European one to browse is “House of Yarn”:
It seems to host free PDFs of patterns from Dale Garn, Gjestal Garn and a couple of other more obscure brands.
This rather fab collection of free patterns for stranded jumpers and cardigans just came out:
To download the free PDF, click on “Last ned oppskrift”.
All in Norwegian, but the charts and photos could be used to knit your own pattern, or be grafted onto a similar style in English. Sadly no schematics.
This one is a fab Christmas jumper:
It looks to be done as a set-in sleeve, but you could change it to a drop shoulder.
I loved Dale Garn and Anny Blat patterns. The yarn store that carried them and several of the ones you noted, closed a few years ago. I still have favorite Rebecca and Phildar issues with classic patterns that are favorites to knit.
Thank you for compiling this list of resources for excellent patterns.
Ooh, yes, I have seen and gently petted some Anny Blatt angora in the “old days” when I lived in Melbourne and a couple of yarn shops stocked AB yarns. Gorgeous stuff.
