Erantis Lace Pattern Baby Blanket

I am working on a baby blanket that is knit in garter stitch starting with 3 stitches cast on and then increasing 1 stitch with a yarn over at the beginning of each row until 147 stitches are on the needle and finally decreasing 1 stitch per row (yarn over knit 3 together) until you have 3 stitches on the needle. When this is done a lace pattern border is worked in the round.

I want to make the blanket a bit bigger than the pattern is written for. I am wondering how I would work this lace pattern with more stitches. I am currently at 148 stitches, but would like to keep going until the blanket is at least 4-6 inches longer.

Does anyone know how I could make this lace border edge work with more stitches? Is there a certain amount of stitches I would need to add, like I’m certain intervals?

I have reached out to the pattern author.

Love the lace pattern on this blanket!
It’s a 12 stitch repeat to start the lace. You can increase in multiples of 12 and be able to ease the lace around the edges of the square.
It would be good if you could give us only say, round 1 and 2 of the lace pattern please rather than the whole pattern. Thanks for thinking of the designer copyright.

Thank you! I removed the pattern. I also heard back from the author and she said the same thing! Thank you so much! I’ll share the finished blanket when it is done. Hoping to spend lots of time knitting today.

I’m on the final rounds of the lace pattern. I just knit all the way around to the last stitch for the 6th round, slipped the stitch, took off the marker, moved the slipped stitch back, and placed the marker in front of the last stitch so that now the final stitch is not knitted and I will use that last stitch as the start of round 7. Does that sound correct based on this pattern? Screenshot_20250304-222808_Drive

Yes, that sounds correct. How is the border pattern working out for you?

The pattern is working out great but I did mess up the pattern when I lost count on the 5th round. I’m really hopeful it isn’t super noticeable. I had 672 stitches to count in pattern each round. I’m honestly surprised I only messed up a few times. Hopefully I don’t have to scrap the whole border and start over. It took days. I also ran out of yarn and am waiting on a skein to ship. I just have 2 rounds left and then cast off and I ran out.

That’s…a LOT of stitches! Can you put a marker between every repeat, or every 2nd repeat, or something that would help you see where you made a mistake before you get too far?? Then, of course, the trick is to actually CHECK all those places…

Impressive number of sts. ColoCro’s suggestion of markers is a very good one.
But it sounds like you’ve managed very nicely. Hope the last skein of yarn arrives soon so you can finish up the magnum opus!

Yes! It is an INSANE amount of stitches. It’s just for the border and I was nearly done when I messed it up. I don’t know if I have the patience to frog thousands of stitches and redo them…so I’m hoping it looks OK. :crossed_fingers:

It definitely would have been a good idea to place stitch markers, but it would have been a LOT of stitch markers because it is a 14 stitch pattern repeat. :grimacing:

It’s an impressive achievement. I hope we get to see a photo when you finish!

I will definitely share a photo when it’s done! Just need the yarn to get here. $34 for one skein because of $15 for shipping. Ugh!

Painful but necessary.

If you put them every OTHER pattern repeat, it would only be 24 markers. Might save you some grief finishing up? And might help you find the mistake…maybe you could still drop down and fix it? And if not, I’m sure nobody else will notice it. We tend to be very harsh with ourselves.

The yarn came and I finished the blanket! That was a lot of stitches to cast off! I haven’t blocked it at all. I hope you can’t notice the lace pattern mistakes. The blanket is nice and large, like I wanted! Now onto a blanket for a boy since we dont know the gender of baby #6. Im 31 weeks due May 14th. Hopefullyi have time to finish it.

Blocking is really going to let the lace shine. It’s a very beautiful blanket and will be much loved, I’m sure. Congratulations on baby 6 and hang in there. A new baby for this spring is wonderful news.
