Embroidering on a Hand knitted Sweater

Hello All,

I have seen embroidery on hand knitted sweaters before and have a request from my grandson to embroider some words on a sweater I just made him.

Can anyone direct me to a video that shows how to do it? Or explain to me how I would go about it. The sweater is already put together and to duplicate stitch it would be so close to impossible as the yarn itself is very coarse and I have nothing to match it. It would look awful.

Well, I guess I joined this community for nothing. (Just kidding!) I found a video… so, in case anyone else wants to know how to embroider on knitting: Here it is. I thought it would be a lot more complicated than this.
