Hello, I am currently working on a pattern that requires me to embroider eyes in black yarn. This is the pattern I’m working on, and I’m sort of on the last step. I say sort of because I decided that it might be easier for me to manage sewing on the ears and face before I sewed it to the blanket. My problem is that I don’t know how to sew the eyes on it. I already completed the head itself so I don’t know how I’m supposed to sew the eyes… That and I’ve never embroidered any knit works. Can someone please help me?
I have made a couple of woobies, and I had a hard time embroidering the faces, too. Unfortunately, I don’t really have a lot of advice. Are you using embroidery thread? I found it a little easier to use some fingering weight wool yarn that I had. It’s not as slippery as the embroidery thread, and it gives a little better coverage, too. It’s a very cute pattern! Please post a pic when you’re finished!
You could use a chain stitch or heavy chain stitch. There are also many other stitches on Youtube you can look at. It’s a cute pattern, would love to see the FO!
See, I don’t know how to start the stitches without the knot showing on the outside because the head is already stuffed and finished.
Here you go!
Thanks, Tabsheltie! That’s a great help!
Hi, the eyes are a variant of a crossed stitch called herringbone stitch. They are worked the same way, only don’t cross the stitches.
Here’s a link to how it’s done.
That’s a cute little elephant! HTH
