I have just finished knitting a blanket and casted off. Im now doing the edging for it but even though I’m following a pattern I’m wondering is it correct… the edging just doesn’t seem right, it looks slanted and lose at the side. Can I ask for some thoughts on this?? Does the pattern seem correct and does it look correct on the knee does??
Edging a blanket
Congratulations on finishing the blanket!
What is the name of your pattern and the name of the source or designer?
It does seem loose at the edges with some tension problems between a few rows. You could try for more even tension especially on the edges or perhaps make a slip stitch edge at the outer edge. One way is to add an extra stitch and slip as below.
The short rows in rows 3 & 4 are going to add a curve to the edging so that slant is part of the design.
Thank you as always for coming back and for your expert advice. I wouldn’t have been able to finish the cardigan in the same pattern if it was for your previous advice!
The pattern is Sirdar 3108. Once I’ve completed the edging that’s everything completed in time for my little ones arrival!
I’m not convinced that the short rows are really adding much to the band. There’s a slight unevenness but
it may not be worth it. You could just as well knit across row 3 end to end and then purl back across row 4. It’s your preference.
The sweater is going to be darling however you choose to finish it!
Glad to be able to help and all the best on the baby’s arrival.
