I’m not looking for a super complicated pattern however I need a flat knit pattern because I have to line it with fleece (and as we know it’s easier to sew flat then round). I’m not looking for any sort of color pattern because I’m using that nice red heart camo colored yarn. So if anyone knows of an earflap hat patter that’s flat knit that’d be great
BTW I did look on google I found a lot of patterns but lots and lots and lots of them wanted dpns or circlulars or both and I need it flat. (I also looked at the knitting pattern site. I’m at a loss)
Oh, please don’t copy the pattern if it’s from a book or magazine or even if you bought the pattern somewhere - that could be a serious copywrite issue and get the owners of the Board in trouble.
(Not trying to start a new blog here,but) Maybe you should “expand” your explanation…I didn’t know that scanning/sharing a pattern was an infrigement…Let’s say that the party “pm’d” her without posting…I offer to do that all the time…
I know how to make a regular hat and put ear flaps on it but I don’t know how to do an ear flap hat like that one up there that has the ear flaps knit into it. I’m supposed to make one for my little brother because he likes those old navy/ gap kind of hats (with the fleece inside)
I have another idea perhaps let me know what book it’s in and I can buy a copy of it? (or magazine)
Ok…go to the Stash Page of KH…There are “kits” available thru Knit Picks…you can download (PDF) for $1.99! They have a Chullo Hat Pattern…I don’t know if it’s flat or done in the round:hug:
Here’s an ear flap hat w/cables on it - this is typical of ones I’ve been seeing everywhere that are lined w/fleece.
It’s not a 2 needle hat, but cast on the # of stitches plus 1 or 2 for the seam and knit it back and forth instead of joining.
Many patterns have copyright info right on them stating that you can make one copy for personal use. Scanning and posting here would be infringement. We’ve had designers complain about it so its been said in here many, many times. I guess you missed those posts.
Why a new thread? If it is appropriate to this thread, and she made it up completely, then I see no reason to post it to a new thread. Personally I don’t see what is so hard about putting a couple of softly curved flaps onto the bottom of a hat, which I never use a pattern for, and I make loads of them! 3, in fact, this week! I make them from my “waste” angora fiber which is lumpy bumpy yarn. These “seconds” hats sell instantly as soon as I set them out at fleece fairs, etc. I’ve never used a pattern yet. Just make it up as I go.

Because people who have already looked at this thread may not check it again and because not everyone reads every thread. If she puts it in a new thread the subject line can reflect what the pattern is and that it IS a pattern rather than a question. Lots of reasons why it’s preferable. Make sense?
Copying a pattern and giving it to someone is akin to copying a CD, a DVD, a VHS, a book…all of these actions constitute copyright infringement.
The “artist” took the time to make the pattern, song, movie or story and copying/distributing it without paying the artist or asking for his/her permission is copyright infrigement.
If you PM/e-mail people on your own, that is your business. But when you offer on an open forum to share patterns, you put yourself and the web-site’s owner(s) at risk for a law suit.
