Dye lots

So I was wanting to start a new project. I found some yarn at a big box store and thought they had enough of the color I wanted but they weren’t all the same dye lot. I feel this might be a problem. I am going to recheck another store after the w/e. Should I be overly concerned about dye lot? I am going to start on Leksak lady pattern. I already paid and downloaded pattern because I am assuming the recommended yarn is based on the length of design as in picture but I am going to make it much shorter (to hip), but I don’t know how much less of yarn I need to buy in the size I need to make. Is there anyway to figure this out? So I guess I have 2 questions.

Dye lot is important. Even if you can’t see the difference in color of skeins of yarn, when you knit them next to each other a line of demarcation may well show up. The way around this is to knit a row or round or two with one dye lot, and the same with the second dye lot.
If you can extimate the portion of the pattern that is the section you’re leaving out, then you may be able to estimate the yarn amount. It may be enough to make a difference or it may be only one skein. In the latter case it’s likely not worth the chance of not having enough yarn to complete the project.
What is your pattern and designer?

It’s Leksak Lady by Madeleine Nillson. I got it off Ravelry. I have previously done the child’s version

Actually I am quite proud of myself. This is the first time I have managed to attach a pattern link. I wasn’t sure if it would work but once I hit “reply”
there it was.

There’s a good number of projects for this sweater so it’s worth checking yarn amounts with the ones who shortened the sweater and those who made the same size that you want to make.

And congrats on posting the link! It is good to see just what you want show up just where you want.

Great idea. I’ll try that!
