i have been working on a felted diaper bag for a few weeks now as well as a few smaller wool projects and the result is super dry skin. vaseline intensive care has always fixed the dryness before, but b/c of the winter and the extra use of wool, my hands just soak it up. what do you use to soothe your dry knitting fingers?
Dry knitting hands
I usually use something with cocoa butter in it, or even shae butter in it… Both of them make the hands really soft, or even something with aloe vera in it.
Sometimes when the skin is really in bad shape, I put on lotion or cream, let it soak in and then put straight vaseline over it. The vaseline creates a protective layer that keeps the moisture in.
There is also a heavy cream called “Udder Balm” that I have that works well.
Crabtree & Evelyn gardner’s hand therapy or Aquaphor.

[color=blue]Aveeno Daily Moisterizing lotion… I love this stuff. Use to use Udder Cream but Aveeno is pretty scent free and not greasy. :cheering:

Olay Quench is my wonder potion!! Not smelly at all, which is pretty important to me, and it getse absorbed pretty quickly.
I am currently using Bath & Body Works’ Skin Repair Healing Body Butter that my sweetie gave me & it is working very, very well. I had been using their Rice Flower & Shea Cream which also works very, very well. It’s a toss up between the 2…I think that the Skin Repair line seems to be working better.
I also use a paraffin spa ( Lonnie surprised me with it, too
) on my hand, feet, elbows and anything I can get in there! It works well on the skin and helps with aches & pains…so much so that we are on the look out for a brush (perhaps a BBQ brush) that will withstand the hot wax so that we can brush it on my hip & leg! Then, when I’m done with the paraffin I’ve rubbed my bamboo dpns vigourously between my palms & they seem to soak up the residue that is left over from the wax & become smoother to knit with
I really like using Udderly Smooth Udder Cream It soaks in quickly and does not leave your hands greasy at all!
I usually exfoliate with a sugar & olive oil scrub I can make in my kitchen, and then use 3M’s Cavilon lotion. I was using Crabtree & Evelyn’s Gardner’s Therapy for a while, but something in it was changing the color of a natural yarn I was working with, and the fragrance was making me sneeze, so I stopped using it. I haven’t had any issues with the Cavilon yet.
thanks everyone! you gave me some good choices… hmmmm… now for shopping…
