I have found some really nice Drops patterns, but I find them extermely difficult to follow- is it just me- or maybe the way they are explained is beyond my simple mind… I have also purchased some patterns from Sirdar that were just a disaster- even though I followed the directions- so if it is from them, I don’t buy the pattern anymore.
I think I might have used Sirdar patterns, can’t really remember.
Drops though, I actually really like them. I know people do tend to say they are tricky to read but I don’t find them particularly confusing. That doesn’t mean I understand all of them of course, my experience and general knitting knowledge are limited. Drops is frequently my go to site for patterns though. There’s something about the way the patterns are written that I rather like and they respond to questions in a reasonable time too.
It’s good to try patterns from different designers or companies since they differ in writing or editing style. Not all are going to be as straightforward as we would like.
Drops patterns are often translations and in many cases over specify in an effort to be clear. That certainly can cause confusion and not just for you. Keep reading different patterns and working them. Some will be more congenial than others (like the driver’s cap). Of course, we are always here to try and help. Your knitting is lovely and worth persevering to accomplish.
I don’t even look at any of the Drops patterns anymore. Not worth the frustration.
I have made quite a few Drops patterns. You need to break the pattern instructions down to smaller paragraphs. The Drops support is very good. Someone answered my questions right away. There are also lots of videos to help.
Good for you for using Drops patterns for your projects. I’ve made quite a few patterns from that web site. A lot of people complain about how the patterns are written.
Do you have any photos to share of your projects?
