So I finally have a basic understanding of the pattern. I’ve worked the first 6 rows then I’ve worked A1 through vertically 1 time. I am starting the second time doing A1. My question is do I continue to add 2stitches to the end of each row or not on this time. The pattern reads like this:Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 35-37-39 sts with Paris on circular needle size 6 mm / US 10.
Work 6 rows in GARTER ST - read explanation above - AT THE SAME TIME cast on 2 new sts at the end of every row = 47-49-51 sts (12 new sts).
Then work as follows: K the 2 new sts, then A.1A 1 time, repeat A.1B until 3 sts remain, finish with A.1C and cast on 2 new sts at the end of row. Continue with A.1 and cast on 2 new sts at the end of every row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE!
All sizes: Work A.1 2-3-3 times vertically in total (= 24-36-36 rows A.1, 30-42-42 rows worked in total).
SIZE S/M and XXL/XXXL: Then work 1st-8th row in A.1 while at thet same time casting on 2 new sts at the end of every row.
So I’m just not 100% clear on do I add 2stitches at the end of the row on the second time knitting A1. Thanks to everyone, you have all been so awesome
You’re doing very well. Drops patterns are lovely but sometimes not completely clear. Yes, continue to add sts on every row.
Two lines farther down in the pattern from the section you quote is a stitch and a row total which includes 2 new sts at the end of every row. That’s also shown on the schematic for the initial A1 section
Thank you. I think I’ll have to tell everyone you and I completed this poncho! Haha I appreciate your help on it. I’m really excited now that I can see the pattern coming out in the yarn! I’m not crazy about how the edge is looking where I cast on two more stitches at the end of the row, it’s a little jagged looking but I think it’s just lack of experience and that will just come with time. But again thank you!
You’re doing all the heavy lifting on this. Love to see a photo when you finish if you’d like to post one.
Don’t worry about the edges. They may well even out when you block the pieces.
