Dress strap suggestions. Help please!

Hi y’all,
I am knitting a dress in stickenette stitch, very simple, something im not using a pattern for, simple rinning on bottom, i will decrease at waist then increase again so it fits to shape and i would like to end it in ribbing then sew front to back to keep it simple (a project i dont have to follow pattern, just watch movies or bring with me on the go.) But im going to need shoulder straps or something to keep it up? Are there and simple suggestions please?! Thank you

Any chance you could edit the following bit? I’m pretty good at reading “text”, but this has me stumped!

Thanks. It’s not just me.

What sort of straps? Grosgrain ribbon perhaps?

This sounds like a rather ambitious project. I applaud you.

If the dress is as I imagine I would go for a cap sleeve.
If you search “Square neck body con with cap sleeves” and images, you can see a variety of cap sleeves, some joining the dress top with a very thin corner of the cap triangle, some joining more substantially (which I prefer) which is like the corners of the triangle are cut off.

Here’s one example

and another

But if you search you’ll see a wide variety of option or this style of sleeve or strap (some joining underarm, some not).

Sorry, i was typing without glasses. I just edited.

Glad to be able to help.
It’s an elegant style despite the “very simple” stitch and shaping.
Caps can be a continuation of the body ribbing for instance allowing that rub patternnto extend, and adding stitches either towards the shoulder in either stockinette or rib as you prefer, and seamed at the shoukder, or 3 needle bind off. Or can be a triangle type shape made independently and sewn to the dress, depending how you prefer the design and here you prefer the seams. It’s also possible to work up the square neck from the body as a slim armscye/strap and either pick up and knit top down for a cap, or work a bottom up cap and set it in, these approaches might be preferable if you want the sleeve to join under the arm, like the green example, rather than only sit above the arm and shoulder like the red example.

I love this style, it’s something I used to wear a lot of in dresses, t-shirts etc. These days I feel the cold too much to expose my arms and chest!

I look forward to seeing the result.
