I am quite stumped. I am knitting Camisole No 5 by My Favorite Things Knitwear.
They have instructed me to pick up and knit a certain number of stiches around the armhole. The pattern then says:
You are now ready to work your edge.
In the first picked up stitch, cast on a further 5 sts using the knit cast on method. The 5 sts establish the RS of the double knitted edge. Now work an establishing row, where you cast on another 4 sts (for the back of your double knitted edge) using the backwards loop method.Work as follows:
K1, 1 st cast on using the backwards loop method, k1, 1 st cast on, k1, 1 st cast on,
k1, 1 st cast on, knit the following 2 sts tog tbl.Now work the rest of the edge. Work back and forth over the 9 new sts at all times.
On each RS row, knit in 1 st from the picked up stitches around the armhole and in
this way, the edge will follow around the armhole.
I truly do not follow a lick of this. I understand that for the first stitch, we cast on 5 additional stitches. It then says to cast on another 4 stitches - where? The last stitch of the row? Or?
And when it says, “k1, 1 st cast on…” does that mean “k 1, cast on 1 stitch using etc” ?
Thank you in advance!
