Double Increase in PLAIN ENGLISH?

Double Increase: All in the same St. knit into the row below the next st but do not slip st from the needle, knit the next st without slipping it from the needle, them knit into the row below the st again, and slip the original st from needle - 3 st made from 1st

I have no idea what it means by the “row below the next st”. I am sooo lost.

It’s in a design which is all purls and has 1 single knit column in the center, and this increase will spread that knit row into a leaf.

The stitch below is the one you made in the previous row. Put your needle into that stitch, pull the yarn through, but don’t slip anything off.

Then knit the ‘regular’ stitch on your needle as normal, but again don’t slide anything off.

Then knit in the one below that you knit into before and slide the stitch off. You’ll have 3.
