Door knob cover/protector?

Anyone know of a free pattern for a doorknob cover to protect the wall? I know it would be a simple pattern but I hardly doubt I could come up with my own pattern. I’ll even settle for a crochet pattern if you’ve seen one (it would give me a reason to brush up on or maybe learn a new crochet stitch anyway).

How about just cast on a few stiches on dbl points and increase by one every other round till its big enough to fit the doorknob then knit a few rows, then do some decrease rows and draw yarn through.
