Donations for Oddball Projects - Needles & Postage

Thank you to everyone for your help!

Today, I received 7 circular knitting needles for our projects!

And I have received several donations to use for postage. Good thing, too! Today, I spent over 70 dollars mailing Oddball packages!

Thank you all so much! cloud9

Things are MUCH better with our Oddball projects!

It is SO COOL to see all of you reaching out to help. This forum is amazing. cloud9

Last night, I came home to find another package of needles at the house. Neat! :woohoo:

I want to thank the following for their donations of needles and postage funds:
suziehomemaker, losnana, misha rf, kayrun, Spikey, gmmarton, pinnut 3200

I have also been told that I will be receiving donations from the following:
Jan in CA, Gertie, Foxyie, and pauline maddocks.

So, it looks like we’re gonna make it! I think we’ll have enough needles to last for a while now. I’ll let you all know if we need help again later.

Thank you all so much! :muah:

Anything I can do, Shandeh? I can poke around the local stores here for more needles?

yeppers i sent out my 3 extra needles today… should be getting them very soon!

We’re in good shape right now, but I’ll let you know when we’re in need again, my friend. Thanks for offering!

Yay! :woohoo:

Very cool! That didn’t take long at all to get up and running again!

I have been so blessed with donations of needles and postage funds from everyone! Thank you all so much!
:muah:

Today, I received 5 more pairs of needles, a package of point protectors, and more postage money. What wonderful gifts for our charity projects!

Thank you Foxyie and Gertie!

And a few days ago, I received packages from MaryB and Pauline Maddocks. (Pauline even included an extra special gift of yarn for me!)

Here’s the total donations I’ve received from all of you wonderful KHers:

25 sets of circular knitting needles :cheering:
and almost 200 dollars for postage! :woohoo:

Yay! So far, I have used 3 of the needles for starting new Oddball Baby Blankets and Oddball Shawls. And I’ve used 84 dollars for Oddball postage costs. (that amount includes postage for the past two weeks)

Thank you all SO MUCH for your help! :muah:

We are starting a new project now, making blankets for preemie babies. So, now we need size US 6 (4 mm) circular needles. They need to be at least 21 inches (53 cm) long. I have a few to get by for now, but I have a feeling we’ll be needing more.

I’m going to check on eBay now, to see what I can find.

Sandy, I have 3 skeins of RH Classic in pink that I’ll be happy to donate to your projects or anyone who needs them. They were from my sweetie’s mother who doesn’t know pink is one of my least favorite colors…

Thank you, my friend. There is a charity knitting group at my church that could use that yarn.

I received some more donations over the weekend!

Tobinknit sent a circular needle, with 4 small journals for us to use for our projects! (She included a square for our ā€œMany Colorsā€ afghan, and a handknit dishcloth for me!)

I also received a donation for our postage from auburnchick!
Thank you both! :muah:

Today, I had to use some of the money that was donated for postage and supplies for our Oddball Projects.

So, I decided to give a full report on how I’ve used the money:

So far, I have received $220 in donations! :cheering:
Thank you all SO MUCH for your help!

I have spent $149 on postage and supplies as follows:

I still have 71 dollars available, so things are going well!

I’ve been trying to find size 6 circulars on eBay, because I need them for our Preemie blankets. I haven’t had any luck, because someone always outbids me at the last minute. :pout: I’m trying to be careful with buying them. I had to pay full price today for a size 6 needle, because I really need it. I’m planning on going to AC Moore again this Saturday to use a 50% off coupon to buy another one.

Here are all the journals I found for our Oddball Projects!

They’re lovely! :cheering:

Thanks for the update. Your time and effort on all of these charity projects is greatly appreciated!!!

I’m checking http://www.discontinuedbrandnameyarn.com($2.99 for most circs), they don’t have any 6s long enough right now but they update their inventory pretty often.

I wonder if KP would be willing to donate any 6’s…if we gave them the link to this thread…

Maybe we could call and ask to speak to a manager. Even donating one or two would be so helpful, and it would promote their product. We could include a flyer or a card explaining that KP donated the needles that would travel with the blanket.

I want to try my HL and see if they will donate…just haven’t had time to go by yet with school (kicking my butt these last two weeks).

Oh, and thank you for the detailed accounting. I certainly trust you, but it is nice to see how the money is spent. It’s also quite an eye opener to see how much postage costs.

You rock, my dear!

Shandeh, I just found a Boye 29" # 6 and an Inox 36" # 6 ( which actually measures about 37-38" long. Will mail to you Tuesday when I get back to work.

I wish I knew how to talk them into donating. I’m not very good at that. I’m okay with asking for help from all of you, because you know me. But, I’m a little intimidated by those BIG IMPORTANT companies. :teehee:

Thank you, Spikey!

Thank you, losnana! :muah:
Now, make sure you still have size 6 needles for your own stash, my friend.

Wow Shandeh, you’re so busy! I checked out the list of things you’ve posted–didn’t see Angel Wings coming to me yet–right? It says on the Oddball blanket list that I’m waiting for it to arrive, but it’s not on it’s way yet, right? I’m wondering because my mom sent me something and I haven’t seen it, and remember I have that mailperson who likes to throw!? (I did make eyecontact with her today though, so maybe I’ll have things show up miraculously tomorrow!) Just wanted to check…
