Dog Sweater Sizing

I would like to knit a dog sweater for my cousins dog as a surprise.

Abbey is a portuguese water dog, shes about 40lbs give or take.

Does anyone have a dog of similar size, that could provide me with a neck, girth and neck to tail length ( I can knit it strechy). Just need a jumping of point. She reminds me of a Border Collie type dog.

The AKC website talks a bit about the “normal” size of a portugese water dog.

I can’t help with the pattern…just want to say that Abbey is beautiful! :inlove:

You might want to consider doing a “cape” style…sizing is more forgiving.

I checked AKC, they give the height but no actual measurements. Iam going to try and ball park the figures.

Hopefully working with a drop stitch pattern, with lots of stretch will make up for any guessing :slight_smile:
